Default Interior Temperature Sensor Question

So, I recently did the LED flasher upgrade so had to put the rapid flash unit in that is just behind the lower dash.

When I removed the trim piece, the temperature sensor (the housing) disintegrated. So, I've ordered a replacement but it is used - is there any way I should "clean" it before installing? Obviously it is a fragile piece.

I wouldn’t bother myself. As you’ve found out, they can be fragile and since they are a simple device (thermistor), I don’t see how any surface contaminate would effect it.

Thanks for the input. I'm literally going to touch it as little as possible!

This is extremely common. Unfortunately the part is discontinued but you can get a used one for pretty cheap.

Found one for $20 on eBay and there were quite a few - one asking $90! hahahah I'm gonna handle it with kid gloves going in!
