I have recently experienced my tranny not feeling as strong as in recent past. I have a 2000 A4 with 3.15 performance axle, 3000 stall yank converter w/2.0 str and TTS PowerloaderII. Also the tranny and diff fluid was flushed recently.
What is happening is sometimes when downshifting the car doesn't go into gear and just rev's until I let off the throttle. Also on some sprints the tach bangs off the rev limiter. And today I was coming on an on-ramp and was easing it up to 65-70 in 3rd and then it started revving again. I let off the throttle and it went back to normal.
Sounds like the 3-4 clutch pack is toasted..Sorry, but these GM 4L60E tansmission are not really built for abuse. I rebuilt mine after only 20K and installed a Transgo shift kit and now it's the best transmission out there..BULLETPROOF! :smash:
I would have you give a call to our resident CF transmission expert Steve Atkins at www.eastcoasttransmissions.com and get his opinion. Either way you need to seriously consider a Transgo kit!!...It works! :yesnod:

:iagree: Yup your 3-4 is gone! Happened to me last spring with only 1600 miles on it! Not to mention, they found debris in the valve body! It was some dudes finger from the factory! Just kidding
Definitely take it back to the dealer if your still under warranty! OH WAIT - you gotta TC.......Guess there is no warranty! :smash:
Vetteboy, do you have a tranny cooler? Did you take any preventative measures when you added the TC?
I am just wondering because I am about to have a TC installed also. It was my understanding that adding the cooler and the transgo would make the tranny much more stable?
Good luck w/ the dealer, keep us posted! It just makes me :U to hear about your problems!
No Hogurt I didn't add any tranny cooler or the trans-go. The TC was installed at around 25,000 mi and I am now at 70,000 mi. I do mostly highway driving but more recently have been doing more around town. I am not easy on my car, but in no way am I abussive.
Vstella, By the way what is it that the trans-go does that makes the transmission bullet proof? What functions does it have?
The Transgo shift kit is a MECHANICAL modification..not electronic ! The shift kit will firm up your shifts and give you more control in manual upshifting as well as downshifting..Crisp,sure and durable shifts every time..I would also recommend you think about a deeper trans pan rather than a cooler..IMO:D
It will not bulletproof the trans alone but with HD parts such as wider kevlar bands and 9 disc 3-4 clutch packs ,5 gear planetary units among many others parts will..!:D More information on these and more performance partswww.transmissioncenter.net.. :chevy
I read up on the trans-go and what it does. I will be seriously thinking of putting this in when fixing the trans. Plus I don't think its the 3-4 clutch maybe the 2-3 clutch b/c that when it seems to slip, or flare as you may. When it happened today it was when I had the shifter in 3. The trans downshifted to 2 and then as it tried for 3 thats when it slipped. Hopefully the scanner will show whats happening.
