'03 Z06. In the mock-up phase of installing my AFECONTROL PFADT front tow hook. Needless to say I was expecting it to extend a little further out past the fascia. Tried one of my MAC tie-downs, clamps with no problems. Not sure how big of a grappling hook a tow truck or track recovery vehicle would use but this looks to be as good as it gets. I have yet to power-up the old Black and Decker and make a full commitment. Anybody
else running this set-up? Pics?

The Pfadt unit is attractive, but I decided not to install one because I could not see how damage could be avoided if the car actually had to be towed.
I made a removable, UGLY in place but functional FLEXIBLE tow hook. The carrier took some experimentation and measuring. It is 1/4" steel plate with a 5/8 " NC coupling nut welded to the front end, sitting just short of the passenger side fog light cove. The carrier bolts up underneath the passenger side skid bar mount. the removable tow hook screws in through a port in the passenger fog light cove. Used it for nine years so far but never been towed in spite of a couple of foul ups by me on track making dust with two tires in the dirt.
The tow hook itself is composed of a section of 5/8 NC stud with collar welded to a section of 3/8" wire rope welded to an adaptor to fit the hook. The cable is stiffened with 1" heater hose over 1/2" heater hose to minimise deflection under wind load BUT provide flexibility for towing. I also have to stuff a couple of closed cell foam pads in the cove to keep it from drooping too much at speed. The hook and pads come off for street.
Probably too ugly for your car, but something to think about.
Jim, that is awesome and a great piece of engineering on your part. Nothing wrong with throwing on the MacGyver Cap and making something you need. I've been trying to find the dimensions for the C6 hook ( it appears to be longer) but after talking to two vendors to say they were less than helpful is a polite understatement. I'll come up with something!
I had a local shop weld the stuff together once I figured out the dimensions. Somewhere, after the move from CA to AZ, I think I still have a cardboard pattern for the receiver. I will post a photo with dimensions If I can find it.
Made one also, uses the C7 factory tow hook. Coupling nut should of been welded 1/4" lower Was easy to install with the front facial removed, put 2 riv nuts on the vertical and 2 on the lower horizontal of the frame
