Pull wire for gas door
I have a 2000 hatchback and the emergency pull cable for the gas door is nowhere to be found. The ones for the hatch release are sticking out but not the one for the gas door. I removed the speaker in hopes of finding it with no luck. How do I go about getting the plastic cover off that is around the speaker and will it be in that general area? I do not want to start pulling carpet up because I will never get it to go back in place. TIA.

Look further toward the back of the car. Behind the plastic speaker panel is a rounded felt-covered panel covering the wheel well. At the back end of that panel is a small panel that butts up against the rounded cover. Run your hand up where those two panels meet and the release handle should be there. There is a one-inch slot cut in the rounded panel that the cable sticks out of.
