Default Headlight Gear

Question of the day, if your changing the plastic gear with a brass one, should you change both sides ?? should I buy the kit or just the gear??

I did both 11 years ago, still happy with the results. If you do one, the other goes quickly.

If you're doing it, I'd get the kit. Would I tear into both at once? No - because I'm pretty lazy. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I bought a new motor instead and just did the one side that failed tonight. If it fails, I'll go brass. If it lasts 20 years, then I saved a bunch of time.

I would get the kit - up to you if you want to do both while you are at it or wait until the other one decides to go bad.

And moved to C5 Tech.

I'm cheap so I just rotated the gear 180 degrees, put it back together and went on with life. I figured if I get another 15 years out of the other half of the gear it was time well spent. I don't remember how long ago this was but it has been at least 5 years maybe more.

I like your thinking, especially those of us who rarely drive the car at night and actually use the headlights. Hell, mine may never need to be replaced or rotated.

Mine is a daily driver and I work rotating shifts so they get used all the time. I did turn off the auto headlights so they don't pop up every time I start it in the garage and then go down when I back out.

They both have the same wear. I did one side only to have the other fail within 2 months. Order the Rodney Dickman kit for both sides. I wound up paying double postage buying only one. Lesson Learned.
