Well it's sort of complicated. ATI is one of the best HB at doing the job, but it only comes in 10% in our applications IIRC. ASP or other (don't go cheap) at 25% is an underdrive pulley, but NOT a HB. Some say it makes a difference in the longevity of the engine. But you def DON'T want the 25% if have a lot of draw on the alternator, like a big amplified stereo system. Alternatively ASP at least has a OVERDRIVE accessory pulley (forgot which one(s)), to offset some of that 25% (which is a lot relatively speaking).
Personally I would get an ATI which performs top of class, and just go with their 10% standard UD HB.
As far as I know, the ASP IS a HB. I have seen one fail, and it definitely had some sort of rubber/elastic bonding ring between the inner and outer metal rings that failed, much like stock ones do. Any V8 would have to have some sort of control of the harmonics, or you'd be looking at some very short bearing/valvetrain life. As for the ASP offering a compensatory OD accessory pulley, you are correct. IIRC, it's for the alternator, due to the C5 being so fussy about voltage......

I didn't think the ASP was a HB, I'm not sure, however I have only heard good things about the dampening capability of the ATI.
Looks like I'm joining the HB club!
I've been reading about HB's by chance, here on the boards and went to check mine - sure enough the sob is wobbly.
I started looking at aftermarket parts - like most of you suggested here - ATi. There's just one issue I ran into - I'm not sure which balancer to get, on ATi's web page there's so many different types and kinds - all I need is a replacement HB for a stock LS1 and the seal that goes with it.
Has anyone done the pin kit too? Is that a job I could do in my garage?

If your staying stock I would go with Summit Racing C2501 they are a little cheaper price wise. Yes, it can be done at home
I'm sure Summit sells pin kits also an your local GM dealer should have the seal
The stock balancer's rubber fails at both mileage and time. Yours's is 18 so yeah, it could be failing. If you put on another OEM balancer it too will fail over time. I'm doing my 02's this Spring and I'm going with an ARP bolt and Summit C2501 balancerhttps://www.summitracing.com/parts/sum-c2501You want to replace it before it completely fails and does damage to other parts.
...but i will be pushing up daisies in 10 years anyway so who cares ? I used a Powerbond...that was good enough for me and better than the GM crappy balancer...just sayin...
Does anyone have the ATI balancer part number / ARP stud / pinning kit? I'm about to get them but there's so many options on their page and I have no idea which combination is correct for a stock LS1.
EDIT:
I think I've found it:
GM Corvette Y-Body Serpentine Dampers (Steel) / Part number: 917246 / $ ??? - there's no price?
Damper Crank Bolts & Retaining Bolts / ARP - Includes sealant / Part number: 951503 / $47
Crank Pin Drill Fixture Kits for HEMI & LS1 Engines / LS1, 2, 3, 6, 7 / Part number: 918993 / $124 - anyone know of any less excessively expensive pin kits?

That's the one I installed. I bought mine 4-5 years ago, and it was a little over $400. (I also used an ARP crank bolt)
