Hey guys, what are you running for antifreeze? The PO always had the car serviced at dealer.... still has dex cool in it. I have searched and only find unconfirmed stories of this isn’t the coolant to run....do most change and flush for conventional green antifreeze or just leave well enough alone... thanks
Dexcool in my 2001...I know many engine platforms had gasket leakage issues when it was first introduced in 96...air mixed with the Dexcool and formed an acid mixture which caused a lot of headaches for GM...no leaky gasket issue with my car...I’d just stick with it since it’s the OEM coolant...if you do go with another antifreeze you have to make sure ALL the Dexcool is flushed out !!...and if you stick with Dexcool mix it 50/50 with DISTILLED water !!
I replaced my harmonic balancer this winter so i had to pull the radiator. When i replaced the fluid i used more dex cool. I havent had any problems at all. I think they make a 50/50 dex cool mix now also.

I use Dex, but I also religiously flush the system and refill with 50/50 Dex and distilled water every 5 years, regardless of mileage. The early Dex of the 90's would coagulate into a jelly like substance if left in much over 5 years. I got this straight from a lifelong friend who works at a big radiator/heater core company. When it turned to gel, he said the flow was reduced, or stopped, passages plugged up, and the engines/transmissions would overheat. It was a disaster for GM.......
