I have one of these LED panels for my engine bay light but I can't figure out how it plugs up. Do I need to remove the hood liner and unplug the OEM light assembly?
When I look at a replacement hood light (mine does not function), I see that the light housing has a connector where the wiring harness plugs in, looks like a two pin connector. I see in the linked reference (which looks like a terrific option) that he mentions it being the same connector. Haven't opened the hood today to look, but if the mount bracket and connector are under the hood liner, then it may require a bit of maneuvering to get to the connector. The other end of the harness is down near the bottom of the radiator.
I do notice it has no switch option as delivered. The OE lamp has a mercury switch built into the light, so that it turns the light on and off with hood position. The system is noted for turning lights off after some period of time, but wonder if very low current draw, such as an LED panel, might throw that off.
Snip the red wire on the bulb and tie it to the top of the factory bulb housing. Then take the black bulb wire and tie it to the bottom of the bulb housing. (or vice versa)
