Default Outer Tie Rods -Rears

Replacing both sides, the right is jiggly.
Are these from Corvette Central any good?

If not, recommendations on other brands or vendors? It’s just a casual commuter, no track days or autocross’n, so not wanting to spend a lot.

Thanks!

If you track the car, insulate the tie rods and ball joints. I measured front rotor temperature AFTER a cool down lap and parking in the paddock at 550 degrees F. Heat burns out the rubber which holds the grease in place.

I purchased those exact tie rods for my track toy. They're actually very nice quality for the price and the threaded portion is about 1/2" longer then the stockers so they have much better thread engagement/stability once tightened to the inner tie rod. I have 3 events on them so far without issue.

What material did you use for the shielding?

I used Heatshield Inferno and put in the grommets for attachments. The cable ties have held since April 2015, eleven track days. Since then I have changed front rotors and pads as well as shocks on all four corners but the insulation is still there.

Thanks Jim. I liked the grommet idea and will copy that. It's interesting that cable ties lasted - I'm planning to use stainless tie wire just in case.

Agreed. There are basically 2 options: OEM or these. I installed these about a month ago. Beefy, greasable, and as another fella said, about 1/2" longer. Do pay attention when installing them though. 1 of 2 I received had bad machining. The threads were tapped at an angle, so it spun on a little wonky. Didn't like that, so I returned that one and bought another.

Yes, the SS tie wire is a good idea and will be more reliable than my cable ties. When you look, you will see that the upper ball joints are shielded from rotor heat by the aluminum knuckles. I did not insulate the front and rear upper ball joints for that reason.
