C5 Headlight issue
I have a 2001 C5 , Since i recently fitted a new battery i have been having problems with my headlights not returning down when i switch them off, This started off as a intermittent problem but is now permanent and will only return down manually. When i switch the lights off i can see the cogs on the back of the motors turning the same direction as when they rise.
So far i have cleaned both frame rail earthing points( this made no difference), i have checked all fuses in the engine bay fuse board and footwell . I then unplugged and removed the headlight control module, i removed the circuit board and plugged it in so i could watch the relay and it is not functioning( contacts are not switching across ). I then removed the clear relay cover and manually switched the contacts and turn the lights off and the lights returned to the down position( normal functioning),however the circuit board looks to be unharmed and brand new, no burns or smells.
I have narrowed the issue down to the relay not switching contacts however i am wondering if there is something that sends a signal to this board to tell it to switch across or does it sound like something else on the circuit board that sends the signal\current to the relay to switch contacts ? I am reluctant to purchase a new module as i know they are pricey and it seems that i may be able to replace/repair the relay its self or one of the components on the board.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated
Many thanks
Tony
