Clutch/fly wheel balancing is obviously a very hot topic and one discussed thoroughly in the past. However, there appears to be service manual updates and new instructions that may change the hundreds of previous posts regarding the same. Apparently the new updates say that weights shouldn’t be transferred.
Is there any last, final and current direction for this issue when buying an OEM clutch? Ie transfer the flywheel weights? Send the flywheel out for “match balancing”?
To further complicate things, there are some new YouTube videos that seem to confuse a lot of things.
What is the bottom line with OEM clutch replacements these days? THANK YOU!

For me it was simple, my stock setup was smooth with zero vibration. To get the same result, match balance the new flywheel and pressure plate to the old and install in the same orientation.
I did that and it feels just as smooth as before. I'm using the Monster LT1s twin with lightweight flywheel.
Yeah. I saw that. This video is drastically misleading and incomplete by his own admissions in the comments. These types of videos are intended to cause confusion are just meant to get views and comments rather than provide accurate information.

"Drastically misleading and incomplete." but you offer no facts to support your statement.
I provided a summary about what hot balancing is (the most people are not aware of) and several important things you can do so you don't end up with a major problem on your hands that is a MAJOR pain to fix.
1. Make sure that when your original flywheel is removed for the 1st time its position is marked and documented with regards to how it is clocked to the flywheel.
2. Make sure your mechanic (or you if you are able to work on your own car) doesn't toss or recycle your flywheel. If you end up with a major vibration, you have NOTHING to go back and match balance to.
3. If you want no issues with your new clutch - take the time to have it match balanced before installing.
You have been a member for a week (probably just here looking for help) and are on this forum tossing turd-bombs already? What are your contributions to the corvette community??
Nice work....

I won’t lower myself to your level of being rude here. Rather, I will just reiterate that your video is misleading and incomplete. Please keep in mind that there is a difference between experienced c5 techs that have been working on these cars for 20+ years and “YouTube mechanics.” I didn’t mean to offend you but I’m just looking for a more experienced opinion than a middle aged to older divorced man who hangs out in his garage making YouTube videos to supplement his crappy 9-5 income. If that’s called “contributing to the corvette community” than you win. Oops, sorry. I did respond in kind.
Where can I send this?

When I bought my C5 a few years ago I knew it needed a clutch. I did some research into what the job involved but in the end I decided to bring it to a shop rather than do the job myself for a few reasons I won't get into. I feel like the information in his video is on point, accurate and easy to understand based on everything I've read about the job. What do you think is misleading or confusing about it??

If you don't want to lower yourself you could say nothing, or you could offer some constructive critique instead of hurling insults. You say 'I didn’t mean to offend you' and then you go on and insult the guy. You're not off to a good start here

Sometimes speaking truths “offend” people.

****edit**** need not even get involved other than to say Keep up the cool youtube channel Ken. It's very well done and it's enjoyed by many. You're a valued member of this forum!
I swear it's the same guy creating these profiles that show up very 30 days with caustic behavior towards members. A simple IP address analysis would answer the question......

I found Toys4Lifes clutch balance video to be very informative and have referenced it over the last week on other clutch/vibration postings. I would never have suspected that GM performed a balance on the entire engine and flywheel. Great piece of information to have when I need a new clutch.
Mark the position of the flywheel on the crank. Transfer weights to new flywheel. Measure and shim the slave if necessary. Always important to keep things simple. The video left out this easy, simple, recommended, and mandatory installation procedure and thus the video is incomplete and misleading.
However, when you’re trying to direct business to Monster (and even have a Monster clutch pack behind you in the video) and say “Monster will do this for you almost for free!!!!!!! while no other shop will!!!!”, AND YOU INTENTIONALLY leave out the easiest solution and MOST COMMONLY USED solution for this installation.........the video, is incomplete, misleading, and intended to direct you to one manufacturer so the YouTuber can get kickbacks, views, etc.
Sheep will be sheep. Perhaps a “younger person’s” viewpoint is exactly what this forum needs. Maybe it will wake all you old sheep up.

@CinciZ06 Ip? I’ll give you my address. Come on over!
I don’t think anyone here condones your juvenile rhetoric. But feel free to PM your address. Maybe I’ll come check out some $600 painted coil covers.
They are pretty dope looking, aren’t they. Custom work isn’t cheap.
”Juvenile rhetoric” or actually speaking facts? The latter is true. I just don’t spend 20+ minutes confusing people in a YouTube video for views. Remember to like, follow and share! LOLOLOLOL
Remember to follow my instructions. Transfer the weights and shim the slave. When new people read this thread - this person has posted in the past that the c5 has TWO fuel pumps.
