We have a 1999 FRC. We also have a divider between the passenger compartment and the trunk - not easy to remove.
We are unable to open the trunk using the button on the dash and/or the FOB - both with the car not running. I have started the car and tried clicking the emergency brake on - still nothing.
Where should I go from here? Is there a fuse I might have blown - if so, where and what number.
Is there a way around the release bypassing the fuse.
any suggestions? The battery is fully charged and this is the first incident in the 13 years we have owned the car.
Re Fuses, refer to your owners manual. Reviewing mine in an 04, I would start at the fuse box under the passenger foot area looking at possible fuse #11 Accessory Power, #17 Tonneau Release.
This is from my ‘99 SI...should be the right schematic !!...fuse 26 in the IP Fuse center (HTCHTRK) and Micro Relay 39...Check the fuse and swap the relay with another in the fuse panel...should be a 4 pin !!... you NEVER EVER want to bypass a fuse !!!!!...may have to look at the switch itself and the ground !!...ground location is G302 pictured along with the splice pack location..if a ground issue it’s probably at the splice pack where a whole bunch of different grounds come together !!
I had the actuator failed with the trunk packed with luggage...I have a partition divider, had to pulled it and most luggage out the front.... then pulled the manual release cable. After fixing the actuator, I decided to route my manual release through cargo/tub wall... now I have to remove a tail light to access the cable... I keep a torq head wrench in the car...
