A new to me 2002 C5 with manual is a little hard to shift. I took the boot and etc off and found this shifter. It is not a standard 2002 shifter for it does not have the locking pin for neutral. Do you recognize its type? C6? Aftermarket? Wanting to see if there are some adjustments. It is hard to get into reverse because of the springs.
On line it looks like a hurst shifter.
photo of the shifter in question.

Looks like a Hurst. I have one and mine is the same thing.
It should NOT be hard to get into reverse. If you need to make adjustments, you can back out the two large set screws using an allen key on either side of the main shaft. But, too far and it'll get sloppy.
Make sure your reverse lockout solenoid is plugged in. If it's not, you'll have to manually push past the spring and that makes it very difficult to get into reverse.

Thanks for the reply. Do you back out the set screws on top or the ones in line with the transmission on the sides.
