Hoping somebody can give me some much-needed help. The car will fire and run for about two seconds and then immediately stop running. Reduced engine power, service engine soon and low fuel indicators are present. Also, power door locks and power windows do not operate.
I just completed a new stereo install when this occurred. The stereo install and speaker install was complete gave it a final test and everything seemed fine at that point. I reinstalled all of the carpeting seats I had pulled out and reinstalled the door panels and tried to start the car to put it into the garage and the situation occurred.
I have since looked everything over can’t see anything obviously wrong also put a new battery in just for kicks and nothing. I previously removed the battery and let the car sit for hours to see if something might reset that didn’t work either.
Help!
LOL !!!...you have a serial data bus issue !!...aftermarket radios are a known cause for this...remove the radio harness and see if it works !!!...video is a seat module causing this issue !!
I appreciate the response. I am super impressed with the diagnostic talent of this guy in the video! Serial data bus issue? Alright, I will disconnect the harness and see what happens. Electrical issues are way out of my wheelhouse so thank you for helping me. If you don’t mind I’ll update you tomorrow with my results. Is there a workaround for installing aftermarket radios in the C5 so we don’t have this issue?
Yeah, DeFazio is pretty much a legend in diagnostics !!...don’t worry about your electrical prowess or lack of it...a lot of Forums members don’t either !!...great video below so pay attention to the Class 2 serial data instruction....that is what our C5’s have !!... I’m not an audio guy so if this works you may have to contact the manufacturer on how to wire this thing...if it doesn’t work since you were in the doors where the door modules reside you may have a bad connection now if you had fiddled with the connectors !!
I started disconnecting things that I touched during the stereo install last night. Long story short after unplugging things one at a time and have no luck I removed the drivers seat, which is the very last thing I put back after tearing the interior apart, and unplugged the power seat control connector and that was the culprit! The car started and everything worked like it should. I can't believe this could cause all of the issues it did. To say the least I am very relieved. Thanks for the help.

I was going to mention if the harness removal didn’t work that we would have to look at the door module connections ...I didn’t know you had removed the seat...seat control module is down there and that can be the culprit also...glad you found the issue !!
