Default Fog Light Questions

Finally getting around to knocking a few things off the "to-do" list. My fog lights have not worked since about last year. I have verified the lights themselves work by jumping the relay. I have visually inspected the hatch / fog switch, and it's harness. Nothing there seems out of sort.
After reading a few posts on here, it seems like my next course of action is at the BCM. And to be honest, this is where I start to get a little nervous. The thought of frying the BCM trying to probe around down there is not really something I want to do.
So my thought here was to just wire in the fog lights directly, either on a standalone switch, or even just tie the into the DRL's.
Is there anything inherently "wrong" with this idea? Or is there anything else I should be looking for to fix them (outside of the BCM).
It may seem strange, but I don't mind working on the 12v side of things, but when it starts involving the computer side of the equation, I just get a little worried.

Thanks in advance.

I would think you could use a relay setup in the fuse box like is used to make the low beam lights stay on when the high beams are on. Instead of using the high beam fuse to trigger, you the DRL fuse.

Don't want to insult your intelligence...but is the headlight switch in PARK or ON when you checked the fogs?

nope. I am *hoping* it may be the switch. I pulled it apart last night, and there was a tiny bit of moisture inside. I have a known good replacement on the way, so fingers crossed. If not, I'll probably just wire them into the DRL's with a relay. Honestly ... I maybe drive the car at night 2 or 3 times a year anyway.
