LED bulbs glow when my 2001 Z06 is turned off. Headlight door will not lower when its installed, but the headlights will turn on no problem. Beautiful light beam with a clean pattern.
The problem is they glow when I turn them off, but the pop up door refuses to raise/lower now.
Its a plug and play 9006 LED low beam bulb made by honcs for $29.99. I chose this bulb, because the design mimics a standard halogen bulb. So it locks in place very securely.
What gives, why won't the headlight door raise or lower on my 2001 z06 and why does it continue to glow when I turn the car off?
I have heard about a twilight feature, but I am not sure if my z06 has it or not. I can't find it in my dic menu anywhere. My lights have always had to be manually turned on or off with the switch to open the pop ups.
I never did like the design where they have trouble locking so this design works great to ensure a tight fit and lock. Its a 1 piece led setup just like the OEM bulbs

So far the only trick I have found that works is turning them off as low beams, then pushing the switch into the high beam position which forces the pop up lights to close and shuts off the lights properly then returning the switch to the lowbeam position again. When I pop the lights back up they are turned off. Then to lower them again I just repeat the same process.
Have you tried installing the original bulbs back to make sure that the LEDs are the issue and not some other issue that just popped up at the time you installed the LEDs? highly doubtful but you never know..
Often times LED bulbs don't draw enough power to properly trigger things the way stock bulbs do. You may very well need to add some resistors so that the electrical load seen by the headlight module is high enough for it to trigger the headlights to close.
I just went through this myself. If you install a bulb sim resistor in parallel with one of the bulb circuits it makes the car happy. I bought them off Amazon 50w 6 ohms. But you only need to install the one, on my 98 anyway. My leds would glow too and doors would not shut without using the highbeam switch method. Didn't want to do that so I installed the resistor. It gets hot as hell so I mounted it to a inconspicuous spot on the frame and painted it black.
Also what metalman said. Sorry just read his reply.

Here is a video I made showing how it works on the car itself and what it does. The lights will glow indefinately until I put them in high then low again with the light set to off. The headlights only lower when I go high to low.
This is the exact bulbs which are installed causing this. If I reinstall my silverstar ultra's the headlights function normally. The problem is I mostly drive at night and the ultra's are not bright enough to see far enough downrange on backroads.
