Default Valve stem worn down

So I was working on upgrading to dual springs for a cam sway and found one valve woth thr stem worn down pretty good. Obviously this is very concerning and I know what would happen if it be ded up breaking because of the increased spring pressure so questions is what caused it to wear like this...bad valve stem, bad lifter, etc.? The first photo is with springs install on each side of the damaged one to compare. TIA

What kind of rocker arms are you using....and also what kind of valve spring was used on that valve that's worn down?

Just a guess, but I'm guessing a mistake was made in heat treating, either the rocker arm, the valve stem, or BOTH. I've never seen a bad rocker, so I'm leaning towards a bad valve stem. Are these OEM valves? OEM rockers? At least you caught it pretty early. The only way a lifter could be involved would be that it somehow got plugged up, and no oil was flowing up the pushrod to the rocker. Check the pushrod cup, the end where the pushrod fits into the rocker. Sorry you're having this problem. But it should be a somewhat easy fix. Good luck, and please post up what happened when you know what caused this......

There is a roller rocker in that photo. And that damage looks like a ditch caused by a roller rocker.
So those parts aren't stock.

You will need to replace that valve.

That's what I was thinking. MANY years ago, I mis-matched too strong a valve spring set with roller rockers, and that's what happened to me.....

At 230k miles and that's the only worn out part I think that's pretty good.
