Default P0410/vent control issue

So last season I had the oil pressure sensor fail but I ran through the season and planned on fixing it this season. Went to a local dealer with certified Vette tech. Once repair completed engine light came on during drive home. Checked the DIC P0410 is what triggered it. Brought it back to have tires put on diagnosed as possible stuck check valve. Something I don’t usually use too much is the heater controls but it was chilly so decided to turn heat on today after picking it up. And vent controls not working. Heat coming out of all no matter what set at. Is this just a coincidence or do both of these issues occurring after changing oil pressure sensor lead to a cause? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I would check the DIC for HVAC codes. Its possible it just needs reset.

Check DIC as P0410 is air injection system, not HVAC. I still need my P0410 issue addressed but I did have the same issue with air blowing out of all vents and the listed HVAC reset did not work for me. check this thread as the same fix here was used and could possibly help with your issue. Sounds like the vacuum line at the back intake manifold was not connected

As was mentioned it’s the vacuum line at the back of the intake manifold not connected. !!...I’d let the “Certified Vette Tech” handle your comeback again...the vent controls (vacuum actuated) and the P0410 (AIR solenoid allows vacuum to the shut off valve to open) are both related to vacuum !!..a bad check valve would throw either a P0415 or 0416...if the Tech ever needs help in diagnostics have him join the Forum and post his issues he’s having here...we will help him out...LOL !!..I moved this thread to the Tech section.

In your post C5 Diag has the correct diagnosis. In my case a leaking battery had dropped fluid onto the vacuum line that comes from the back of the manifold to a junction block. That junction block supplies vacuum to the AC vents in the car as well as the solenoid that opens a valve in that will let the air pump supply air to the O2 system. When that vacuum line fails your vents don't open correctly and when the car warms up the solenoid that supplies air from the air pump won't get vacuum causing the O2 Sensor code. I opened the loom located under the battery behind the body panel that contains the vacuum line as well as some wiring and a section of the line crumbled in my fingers. I spliced in a new vacuum hose because I didn't want to deal with the dealer that was going to charge me $1000 to replace the air pump they diagnosed as the problem in the O2 system, when all it really needed was a $2 piece of hose. I diagnosed mine by putting a vacuum pump on the rotted out line and the air pump would then deliver air pressure to the system. I hope that makes sense, but yep, it's just that little vacuum line.

They are pretty packed up this week so I’ll be dropping it off Sunday night. My hope is that this post helps others as previous posts on this issue have helped me greatly!

I just test drove a 1999 today that had this exact issue and code! I came here to figure out the issue and use it for negotiating. The salesman told me the P0410 was an O2 sensor but he would have it checked out lol. I had planned on going back with my HP tuners to read everything after checking here first. Thanks for all the good info!

Heard from the dealer just before close. Said the vacuum leak was under the battery tray. Wonder if the engine light will be off afterwards. 🤔

If they fixed the leak it should be off.. I still think it was at the back of the intake since they just had the manifold off

The weird part is that the engine light nor the 0410 code was present until after the oil pressure sensor was replaced. I’ll follow up tomorrow after picking the car up.

The reason for that is there is a vacuum controlled valve on the output side of the AIR pump. It gets its vacuum supply from a small line on the back of the intake manifold. This line is a pain since it is so short. It is part of the engine harness that goes down behind and below the battery. The hose is a hard plastic that becomes brittle with age.

Alright everyone. Got a call late yesterday afternoon that there was in fact a vacuum leak. Diagnosed as vacuum line rubbed through on the right front fender liner. Replaced 12in of line and that also took care of the p0410. No more light or code! They did the vacuum line replacement for free so I’m quite happy with that. Thanks for everyone’s help and I hope this helps others in the future!
