Default Grounds

Hi All, a quick question. I am going through my 03 stock vette and cleaning the grounds. I watched some YouTube videos and got to work. I started with the ones up by the headlights. My question is, are the wires supposed to pull out of the shell on these? I removed the gray retainers and the wires could wiggle in and out a little bit but I could not pull them out. It looks like I could insert a tool to release each one but don't really want to do that and chance messing it all up. I squirt them full of contact cleaner and lubricant and wiggled them and checked Ohmage to the outside tab and it was good. Please let me know. Thanks.

All is fine. There is some movement with the wires. You need an Allen wrench or a special toot to release the wires from the harness. Careful on pulling the wires as they are old.

Dielectric grease on, in every contact when done.

the black rectangular plastic blocks are called splice parks. They have a ground tab that bolts to the metal structure The splice pack unplugs revealing male/ female contacts. There us a small lock that you have to pry to separate. If you start with an easy splice pack to get to you can figure out the proper way to disconnect. Look for green crusty corrosion on the contacts, and loss of tension in the female side of the assembly. There is one on each side of the door pillar area that require the plastic seat belt trim to be removed. They don’t often get crusty, but easy to work on once the seat belt trim is removed.
