Default AC Issues

Went out and bought an AC recharge canister today to see if I could fix my cooling issue, car blows really well just not cold. When I connected it to the low pressure valve it told me my psi was reading at 126 which is way way higher than it should be at. I know I’m gonna have to take it to a shop, but any ideas? Like that seems really way to high to be an actual reading right?

Sorry cant help with your original question.

If you are looking for a shop that can diagnose A/C issues and wont completely screw you and are Corvette guys(without ACTUALLY being a Corvette shop and the prices involved there) check out Ace Car Care in Plano...

They did the A/C on my 96 and didnt charge me near what they should have charged me.

That psi with compressor not running, is about 100 degrees Fahrenheit.

Most likely your compressor clutch was not engaged, and that's the static pressure.

Compressor may not be getting voltage to engage clutch, and that needs to be figured out.

Bad A/C switch, open low pressure switch, bad wire, etc.

Of course it could be bad coil in A/C clutch shorted out, or if the hub is spinning your compressor is not pumping.

Sounds like good A/C shop is needed to diagnose.

Where do you live?

you really need to have a set of gauges so that we can get both the high side and low side readings. as oters have said we would need to know if the clutch is engaged. do you have any hvac codes coming up?
