Default tsp c5 headers need hammered

I only got to do one side today but ive seen in video the third primary on driver side needs hammered where the steering shaft hits. I bolted the passenger side up today only to find it was up against the weird edge of the c5 oil oan on the bottom of the car. Marked it took it off hammered it wipes to clean steainless steel. Put it back on still hit took one one more time hammered it can see its a 1/4" flat on the one primary a couple inches of pipe and about an 1/8th inch of clearance from the bottom side of oil pan. Has anyone else had this issue i got them because speed engineering was out of stock. Was thinking about sending them back right away as theyre suppose to direct bolt on and seems way to close for comfort. Anyway the second time of hammering got about an 1/8th inch of clearance for about an 1" section of oil pan i believe. This is isnt going to cause hot oil temps is it. That was my main concern. Id get pics but closed shop as it started raining. Now to to the driver side i believe just the steering shaft and remove the oil filter? My dad mentioned it seemed like a thicker metal then speed engineering gto headers they also had to be hammered and the steering shaft runs thru a section of primaries would bind up. Seen one guy with ebay or amazon headers set theyre direct fit.

I have the TSP headers on my 2001, and I didn't have to beat on any of the pipes to install them. Disconnect the steering shaft and move it up and out of the way, make sure to not move the steering wheel with it disconnected.

I didnt have to remove the oil filter on mine.

They are tight with minimal clearance between the pan and the frame and steering shaft.

I have the AMT vulcan motor mounts so drivetrain movement on my car is minimal, when i still had my rubber mounts that were blown out the engine would move and hit the headers.

woo gimmie a d ill get you some pictures had passed out this afternoon after getting exhaust off and passenger header fitted. woke up 8pm thought it was am was about to get started on the drivers side. It was up against the oil pan I looked under the car after torqueing it. i managed to hammer 1/4" atleast around the area and clears 1/8". The headers stay fixed with the engine so shouldnt be to big of a problem the motor does torque over when reving as normal. I may put solid mounts theyre just solid pieces that replaces the flexible rubber similar to whats on 2004 gto motor mounts. I did have to have the intake off to get the air pipe off from the back was much easier discovered the deteriotating crankcase ventilation rubber joint for the plastic 3/8" lines. Ill get some pictures tomorrow last thing id hate to boil some oil but with 1/8th inch of clearance should be fine. Now the driver side you just removed oil filter and hammered the 3rd primary where the steering shaft hits?

I didnt have to hammer anything, I removed the alternator and the valve cover/coils and put it in through the top, it slipped right in. I have about an 3/4" of clearance between the header tube and steering shaft.

Got the drivers side in no problem mine did clear heres the passenger side where i hammered it. Was caught a ways around the round part of header and oil pan. The steering column is really easy to loosen up and the valve covers stayed on I took the plugs out on this side which made things alot easier. Bosch or autolite platinums are good deciding which afforadable plug to use?
