Hi, since 2 days ago I got a new problem with my car. When I turn key into ON position, my dashboard starts flickering in disco style for arround 10 seconds. If I try to start the car during this disco time, it will start in reduced power mode or it is struggling to start at all. If I wait for those +- 10 seconds, then the dash starts to behave normaly and I can start the car without any issues. See the attached video.
My DIC codes are: C1287 HC, B0502 HC, B0507HC, B2482 HC ( all are codes that I had whole time that I own this car ). And last code is U1064H, which I suspect might have something to do with my problem.
So far I tried to wiggle connectors between body and doors and spraying grounds 104,102 and 101 with dielectric grease. It had no effect.
If you have a voltmeter probe one of the 2 metal nubs on top of fuse 19 (IPC) in the IP fuse box with the key on when all this is happening...see if you see a constant 12 volts there..I’ll check and see if those other codes are related to the IPC maybe losing power for those 10 seconds if that’s what you do see...there may be a relay involved too.

Thank you for your reply.
I checked IPC fuse and when is dashboard flickering, voltmeter reads 3-5v, until it suddenly jumps to 12v and then is everything ok.
I also took the car for few hours long drive, during this time I started car 6 times in total. During first cold start and during start 4 and 5 everything was completly normal, no flickering, no other problems. During other start I got the problem I described. So it seems kinda random.
I also pulled more codes from DIC. So new codes, in addition to old ones are now also: P0410HC, C1288HC ( I have those two for months too, so probably not related ) and B0432H, B2605H, U1000H, U1064H.

Reason: typo
OK, so we're getting somewhere !!..I'm thinking "maybe" an ignition switch...take your voltmeter and place one lead on battery POSITIVE and the other lead to one of those metal nubs on fuse 19 again...turn the key on and and hopefully the lights will start flashing...we will be checking for a voltage drop across the ignition switch to the fuse...since you are seeing 3-5 volts you should see 7-9 volts on the voltmeter if the ignition switch is bad ...you are dropping 7-9 volts across the ignition switch !!...do you hear the fuel pump prime for 2 seconds when this is going on...this is another hint and most likely why the car is not starting...the pink wire from the ignition switch powers many important circuits in the car...injectors, coil packs, fuel pump, AIR system (the pink wire powers the AIR solenoid so that's why it's throwing that DTC.
I did what you suggested. Dashboard was flashing during this testing ( did it 3 times ) and volts were between 7-8. I never heard my fuel pump to be honest, or didnt paid enough attention to it before, I definitely didnt heard it now. So it really looks like source of this problem is my ignition switch.
It was one of the things I suspected, after googling this and similiar problems, some were fixed by replacing it. I heard that they eventually fail over the time, especially in such high mileage car as mine. I will order new switch and when it will be shipped to me in 1-3 weeks, I will replace it and I will post results here.
If my AIR will be fixed with it too, I will be happy as I was recently tempted to order new one, because besides emission things, I read that it also affects HVAC. After my AIR broke, air is always blowing from middle windshield ventilation, not so much from others, no matter what is set in HVAC control. So we will see, it might by broken too or it was just because of that ignition switch.
Big thank you, C5 Diag.
OK, so we confirmed you indeed have a voltage drop across the switch !!...my 01 had only 55,000 miles or so when it failed. The AIR system has no effect on HVAC...AIR is "Air Injection Reaction" which is part of the emissions system...it pump air into the exhaust manifold...be sure to order an AC Delco switch...stick with OEM !!...in case you’ve never replaced the switch this is how you get the lock cylinder out !!
I know what AIR system is supposed to do. But I read about its supposed connection with HVAC here, it seemed weird but I accepted it as truth, because it was written by some other experienced user.
I ordered new switch from ACDelco ( D1499C, #10246848 ). Hopefully it will arrive soon. And that picture will be definitely useful.
Again thank you so much.
Not a problem !!...I guess there are not to many Corvette specialists in Prague so glad we could help out !!...let us know if the switch fixes it...99 % of the time here on the Forum we never hear if members were able to get back on the road !!
My car is on it's third ignition switch. I probably overreact, but when I see symptoms like xlst is experiencing, I think of the ignition switch first-
We have few Corvette specialists, however they specialize mostly in different generations. Not many C5s here, they are rare, not even 20 of them in whole country.
But anyway, I have GOOD NEWS.
New switch arrived and swap was easy. I havent properly tested car with new one yet, but so far it seems like this problem is finally gone !
Old switch had both A labeled pins kinda burned, maybe I will disasembly it later and check it more.
Again big thanks, I love this forum.

Glad you got it fixed !!...any good diagnostian could have solved this with a wiring diagram and some pinpoint testing...they really don’t have to be a “Corvette Specialist” !!!!
Thats true. But I like to do such things myself, as much as possible. To learn more and its also fun, working on own car . So I rather ask here first, If I am not sure. And other mechanics/shops only as last resort or for more complex things like dealing with transmision/engine... where I dont have enough experience yet, or right tools.
