I'm sure this has been covered before but my 2003 has been having these two lights showing up. It's not ever time and sometimes after I shut the car off and restart it the lights go away. What can I check (I'm not a wrench guy) for a solution without having to go to a dealer or repair shop and get soaked a bundle for something simple.

Pull your codes and post them here. Someone here should be able to help you decipher them and we can offer suggestions. Could be a loose connection at one of your wheels.
C1214 usually means the EBCM needs to be repaired (01-04 model years only). If you are not mechanically inclined then you will need to have someone remove the module for you and send it somewhere for repair. Most people use ABSFixer although there are a few other places also. You can still drive the car and the brakes will work fine, but without the EBCM you will not have ABS, traction control, or stability control.
DTC C1214 normally is caused by a defective relay (white relay in the photo) in the ABS electronic part .
With some soldering skills it is easy to replace .
