Default C5 - Speedometer Failure / Suggestions

Well the first glitch showed up today while cruising in the new to me 2003 C5 Anniversary Edition (1 yr old new to me) .... Check Engine light appeared while cruising local city streets and at the same time I noticed that the speedo was only making it to 50k/per hr. and no higher ..... so is it possible that these have happened together at the same time, or is it possible that there is an engine sensor somewhere that drives the speedo and these issues are connected ? ..... tach appears fine .... engine runs fine .... car has only 58,000kms .... looking to the experts ... Thanks

When you turn the key on does the speedometer sweep from 0 to 200mph or 300kpm if it's Canadian.

The speed sensor is located on the differential

Hey there ..... just had a chance to check your mention .... when the key is turned the speedo does run to the top and then returns to zero ....... haven't check the DIC re codes as yet as someone else has suggested ...... so do you think they could be related (check engine light is indicating a speedo sensor failure ?) ........ thanks for the input

Yep the code should at least point you in the right direction.
