Default 2000 C5 covertible Serpentine belt problem

Gone through 3 serpentine belts in short period !!! Drive pulley is not wobbly nor are any other pulleys. Belts are continental gatorback. New tensioner and pulley were put on. After 2nd belt I showed mechanic that belt didn't seem to be centered. He said that it was fine. Each belt in the last 2 weeks started tearing and it appears the belt coming up to the tensioner is out of alignment with the drive pulley. Are there specs as to how to install the tensioner? Need to solve this problem as I am totally pis sedan at this other mechanic who has already screwed me out of $500!!!!!!

There are only 2 bolts that hold it on. Did they come loose? What brand of tensioner did they use?

Don't know what brand. Bolts are not loose.

Sounds about right. That, or someone didn't tighten the balancer correctly, and it's spun, then walked on the crank. I've had 2 serpentine belts on my car in 21 years, the original, and a new one around 7 years ago. Something is definitely amiss. I'd be curious what "pulley" was replaced. Good luck to you, OP....

Harmonic balancer has worked out of alignment and needs to be replaced. Just had it done. Thousand bucks.
