I was able to get the fuse pulled for the horn, and that stopped it. Dealer is NOT an option here...any recommendations? I'll break out the service manuals and start troubleshooting later.
MAN that is obnoxious. I had just walked up to the house and I hear this horn blarring...go check and sure enough it is mine. Hit the airbag, it stops. Go back upstairs, just as I get into the house, it goes off again. Go downstairs...hit the airbag, it stops, but comes back up instantly again. Popped the hood, pulled the fuse.
B2527 H C "Horn Relay Circuit" Just need a scan tool to fix it!!
NOW...I wiped down the interior of the car today, and I extended the column to it's limit to get any dust at the top of the column, then let it back in, but that was this morning. I have driven it several times since then. BUT, I am not ruling out a wire short somewhere in the column. This should be entertaining to fix!
I guess it's possible the horn relay is stuck closed. You could just try replacing it .. they're pretty cheap. Before doing that, you might try plugging the fuse back in and whacking the horn relay with your knuckle to see if that stops the horn. It could also be a short in the steering column, or even a computer problem, though that's unlikely.
I had a similar problem and the fix was to replace the airbag and/or airbag sensor that is located in the steering wheel. It was under warranty, but the cost was approx $800. Hope this costly fix is not your problem. I drove with my stereo blasting through traffic and NEVER knew my horn was on for at least half an hour until I pulled into my driveway. I admit I must have looked like a moron!!
Ah, yes, the G O D D A M N horn! I figured that link was my original post. About 6 weeks ago, I plugged the fuse back in and several days later, it started blaring at 6AM (Why only when I'm sleeping?!) :mad
I unplugged the fuse again. Then about two weeks after that, some stupid biatch just about ran me off the freeway (changed over 2 lanes toward me when we were driving side by side) and I couldn't even honk my horn at her. She was so oblivious that even when I pulled along side her and shook my fist she didn't see me. Sometimes you really do NEED a horn. I'll be taking this to the dealer after the holidays. GM is gonna pay for this!
I take nothing for granted with this car. It's always something.
I tapped the horn in my 2000 with my knuckles once, and BWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRR......... Jumped out and pulled the horn fuse to stop the racket!
This was a case of the horn contacts inside the airbag assembly sitcking. Dealer replaced it under warranty. No problem.
Since that incident, I'm much more careful with my Z...I don't whack the horn buttons hard. I *bump* them with the heel of my hand.
I had this problam with my 2000. I had it fixed 2 times, still had prroblems, finally sold the car. Do you have other issues like windows and door locks that don't work? I have had 4 c5s. 2 were electrical night mares.
