Hey folks, need some help. 2003 with 2 year old AGM battery that sits on a Tender when not in use. Went to take car out today. Tender light was still solid green. Dropped top, windows rolled down as usual light on under hood, everything normal. Put key in, all good and turned to start and everything went dead as if the battery completely lost connection. No lights, nothing. Checked voltage at battery and it only read 5-6 volts. Hooked up tender again and hood lamp came on and heard relays buzzing, but put key in and all dead again. Voltage, even at Battery Tender connectors with it powered on was only reading 5-6 volts. Took battery out and battery voltage reads 12.68 volts. Positive cable had a slight amount of corrosion on the plate (side terminal battery) so cleaned up and hooked back up. Do not even get a spark or any power when re-attaching screws on cable to battery. Tested with negative battery cable connected. voltage from negative cable to positive battery terminal gets 12.68 volts. Hook up positive cable (again no spark) and nothing, voltage reads 5-6 again. Is there a fuse or something I should be looking at? Thanks.
I doubt your tender died. Your battery likely had a cell go bad. It will hold a surface charge and your tender is happy with that level of charge. Once you apply a load, the battery voltage tanks and the car won't start.
