Hey there everyone, I got another small little issues I could use some guidance on.
My car is an 03 with the dual auto climate control. When I first got the car the hvac buttons would all light up, but not the screen. I did the solder repair to all the "241" resistors which fixed the screen, but ever since then none of the buttons light up. Is there any other areas to solder to try and fix this, or is it just time for some new bulbs?
I've got my dash apart to fix my sinking hud issue. Last night I "repinned" the motor side, but realized the bushing on the other side is shot as well. I figured now would be a good time to do the hvac repair
Next on the list is of mods is a toss up between some ebay racing seats, or an ls6 valley cover and oil pressure sensor relocation
Very common for the bulbs to stop working doing that repair - old, frail filaments. When I did mine, a few didn't work and by the time I was don taking it in and out to see what was happening, only one or two worked. Call Travis at Vettetronics. He has a site on ebay and facebook (Vettetronics / Wolfe Restorations). Good guy, fair, awesome customer service. He can do regular bulbs or an LED conversion. If you talk to hi, tell him hi for me. Have recommended several forum members to him and all were more than happy.
I've read some threads on people converting theirs to LED's and having them go out within a year (idk if they were from a service, or just bulbs that someone swapped in themselves)
If someone can verify longevity, and the price is good I might consider it when it gets a little cooler. This car is my daily and I'm not used to this Arkansas heat just yet

When I fixed my dim display, I ordered new incandescent minibulbs, because most of mine were out. After receiving the new bulbs, I tested every new bulb to verify it was good, before replacement. It is a bit tedious replacing that many tiny bulbs, but also interesting. Anyway, the bulb replacement part of the fix was unsuccessful. Most were still out. So I'm sending mine in to fix that part of the display. My once dim display is now fine.
I have had the LEDs in my a/c controller, window switches and the radio for about 8 years now with no issues at all.A previous forum member did mine and they are all still working.I think alot of it will depend on the quality of the bulbs you install.
Great info so far guys! After reading about your incandescent failure, and the fact that you checked every bulb first, has really swayed me towards sending it out
There was a post a while back about Travis at vettetronics ruining an hvac unit. Send it to absfixer. They’ve done thousands. $75.
I've dealt personally with him and several people I have recommended to him have had nothing but good things to say about his HVAC work. Mine actually needed a board and he fixed it all and was super fair. Just because "there was a post" isn't going to sway me from recommending and using him. His warranty is top notch and he has been doing HVACs for years.
Also, a lot of guys buy mini bulbs off fleabay or amazon but don't realize that the resistance is way too low and they burn really hot. Travis uses the correct resistance bulbs.

I've fixed 2 of them using bulbs from Radio shack and never had a problem. Yea I know R/S is not around anymore but, you can still get the same bulbs from amazon or Ebay I'm sure
Search this thread for the part #'s https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...splay-fix.html
yeah, seems like all the units he gets need a board too. Super weird. I hear ya though. We all have different experiences. I’ve just never heard of a single issue with absfixer ever. So that’s who I recommend.
Lol well mine did need a board because I damaged it myself and I knew it when I did it. Did you personally have an experience, because all you said was "there was a post". I am speaking from numerous personal experiences with the gentleman. Not buying your comment that he sells boards to everyone as too many people I know have used his services.

I have also dealt with him and he is great to work with!
Same here. I had a dead board and half my lights didn't work. Did the full upgrade to the color scheme I wanted and it looks fantastic. Good customer service too, he gave me a call to discuss the repair.
