Looking for suggestions. On Saturday my (01) C5 had a short lived electrical failure. Windows, locks, all gauges and displays, radio and HVAC all dead. The car started and drove perfectly. Shut it off and restarted 5 minutes later and everything came back working, Traction control error but no codes logged. Happened again on Sunday. Immediately shut the car off and restarted and everything came back. Still no codes. Then nervously drove 150 KM's and got home with no issues.
I removed my failed hyperflash harness last week - waiting for a replacement to arrive. Signals are hyperflashing but otherwise car seems to be running normally.
Any suggestions where I should look? None of the forum posts I found reported such a wide spread failure of so many components.
When you see a bunch of unrelated components fail like yours...think ignition switch !!...I just looked at my 2001 FSM wiring and one of the feed wires from the ignition switch (it's the orange wire) feeds all the circuits you're having trouble with...if you know your way around a DVOM I can show you how to confirm it's bad when it happens !!...and stick with an OEM switch. I replaced mine about 2 years ago. We must have had another member with the same issue since I had all those components highlighted…LOL !!
That is very helpful, and makes perfect sense. Thank you!
I had the dash apart to get to the flasher wiring to remove the hyperflash harness and I put it back together in a hurry to attend a club cruise. I may have crimped a wire or something. I'll take it apart again and check it out. If it persists, I'll replace the switch as you suggested.
