Default Drivers seat

I have a 1998 c5 and my driver's seat has started resetting randomly , sometimes while driving. When I use the memory function to move seat it goes so far then shutters like it's locked up. Any ideas ?

Welcome to the world of wacky C5 electronics. I stopped using the memory option years ago because of the gremlins purposely designed by some lame brain yuppie engineer (IMHO) to make owners crazy. Even after disabling all known stuff to make anything move, it still does when I use the remote on my 04, . Now I only use the key entry.

Sadly, you're right about the electronics. There are WAY too many electronics in modern cars, IMHO. OP, you may need to unbolt the seat and use a mirror to check what is shuddering under it. This sounds like a lube problem, or possibly a damaged seat bracket?? You could try spacing the seat up a couple inches with 4 small pieces of 2"×2" wood, so you had room to run a mirror and light under there to see what's happening. I had to remove the seat, then the motor, then the end where the potentiometer is located, so I could clean it with a paper towel and contact cleaner. It doesn't take much to cause the seat to start and stop. Best of luck to you......
