I bought a 2003 Millennium Yellow Z06 with only 19,500 miles on it 6 months ago in late JAN 2021. Working on the car two different times, I drained the battery so the car would not start the next time because I had the pax door open for too long the first time and the second time I left the interior lights on overnight by mistake. Each time I recharged the battery after jump starting the car, I got the DIC "Service Column Lock" info, so I hit the reset button and the DIC waring never came up again after numerous starts. I had some other low power starting issues so the dealer gave me up to $175 for a new battery. I bought the Optima Red Top 75/25-925 battery because if for some reason the battery case gets cracked the lead acid is in gel form and it won't leak out like a standard lead-acid battery, which happened to my battery on my previous '04 Millennium Yellow Z06. One more time (and only once) with my new battery, it also got drained once which I had to jump start the car.
The issue I am having now is that every single time I start my car I get the DIC "Service Column Lock" notice whereas before I only got it the first time the car was started after the battery got recharged. It is very annoying to have to reset the DIC for the "Service Column Lock" every time I start the car. As I was writing this it occurred that maybe by disconnecting the battery once it may recycle the BCM to eliminate the DIC notice. I will go check this out now!!
EUREKA! I found out the answer to the question I was going to ask, which was "Does anyone know how to get rid off the constant DIC notice every time I start the car?"
Disconnecting and reconnecting the battery did the trick!!!! I hope this info is helpful for anyone who may have this problem in the future! Thank you!
