Default C5 DIC not responding to C2 guy

I am trying to help a friend with his 98 C5. It set the winter in an unheated garage and now has the Anti-lock brake code along with the traction control code. I tried to access the codes using the DIC by pressing reset with the key in the on position, but it will not clear the codes. I also tried to proceed to the options and 4 fuel pushes, but no change. What am I doing wrong???
I am not familiar with the Anti-locks, but found some articles on bad solder joints in the anti-lock control box. I prefer to get the codes before I go there and find it to be a wheel sensor instead.
I have a cheap OBD II reader, but the plug seems to be larger than that on the C5. Any help would be appreciated.
Ron

Are you doing it correctly?

The "diagnostic display" mode is entered with the following procedure:

1. Turn on the ignition but don't start the engine.
2. Press the "reset" button to turn off any warning messages
3. Press and hold "options" and
4. While holding "options", press "fuel" four times within a 10second period.

Initially the onboard diagnostics go into the "automatic" mode which shows each module's DTCs in a preset sequence:

10 PCM Powertrain Control Module
28 TCS Traction Control system ABS
40 BCM Body Control Module UTD
60 IPC Instrument Panel Cluster
80 radio
99 HVAC Heater VentAir
Conditioning
A0 LDCM Left Door Control module
A1 RDCM Right Door Control Module t
AC SCM Seat Control module
B0 RFA Remote Function Actuation

If there are any messages in the DIC clear them with reset.
Display the odometer.
Hold options down and press fuel 4 times.

I hit the reset button and nothing seems to happen. The codes for Antilock brakes and traction control continue to roll across the dash. Do you have to press the reset for each code as it comes up or does one press clear all codes. Also, do you hold the reset button until the code clears?

You hold the reset button for each code. You hold it till it clears. But you have to be in the DIC first.

Ok, I'll try holding the reset rather than just pushing it. I have to chase down the car this weekend to try it.
Thanks,
Ron
