Default Lower radiator hose......

I purchased an Edelbrock water pump, part# 8896, about 6 years ago, and it has served me very well. Still does. This pump is plug and play for any C5. But my hoses are all original, and 21 years old now. I ordered a Gates lower radiator hose, part# 22405, for the '97-'04 C5 LS1/LS6. The hose that's on my car looks to be much larger than this new product. I'm wondering if the hose has bulged that much???! I've called several parts houses, and they all say that the 22405 IS the right hose. I haven't tried installing it yet, because I want to use the car this weekend, and will obviously have to drain the coolant before the install. It looks to be much smaller than my current hose. If it doesn't work, I'll have to put the old one back on, and fill it with coolant. It'll suck to go through all that work and have to reinstall a 21 year old hose!!! Any thoughts on this, or anyone else try to install this hose on an Edelbrock pump? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you....

can you measure the outer diameter where it's clamped onto the pump outlet?... that might help you compare to the new hose

Thank you for your responses. I appreciate them. I was able to contact Edelbrock yesterday, and found out that the stock hose works. It's been so long that I don't remember what hose I used, so I had to check it out first!!

I wanted to follow up on my install. The stock lower hose fits fine, on both the Edelbrock 8896, and the DeWitts (I failed to mention the DeWitts previously) BUT-Here's the kicker-The old, 21 year old hose had ballooned to about 3/8" LARGER than the OEM hose!!!! No wonder I doubted the new hose being the right size!! Anyway, I think I pushed my luck as far as I could at 21 years/120,000 miles!!!! Lord only knows how much longer it would've, or wouldn't have, gone before KABLOOEY!!!!!!
