I have a 2000 convertible with 72,000 miles, I recently upgraded to a double din head unit with back up camera. I am now getting service active handling displayed along with code 1282CH, there was no problems before the install. Let me give you some more details, first off I forgot to unhook the battery until after I had unplugged the traction control / active handling switch. I then remembered that I needed to and disconnected the battery. I totally by passed the old Bose system, I ran all new wiring and left the old wiring harness in tact but just tucked out of the way. When I first start the car I will get the service active handling and the traction control will illuminate on the gauges, it will not shut off. My traction control still works and I can turn it off and on according to the DIC. I have tried disconnecting the battery, and have drove the car about 50 miles with not luck. I can clear the code on the DIC but it comes right back. I have checked all the wiring going to the YAW sensor and the switch all appear to be undamaged and connections are good. There is no physical damage to the yaw that you can see. Also is it ok to drive the car until I get this figured out? Thank you
A visual inspection of the wires and the sensor is not good enough !!…with a bi directional scan tool you can check the yaw rate sensor input voltages and see what they look like… you can see if you have 5 volts on the sensors gray wire with it unplugged and key on engine off…you won’t be able to check the signal wire for integrity without that scan tool…you would jump the 5 volt reference wire to the signal wire and see if you see 5 volts on the scan tool…maybe in your cause just replace the sensor…this is the best I can tell you !!
Thanks for the reply, I do understand that a visual inspection when it comes to wiring is not good enough, but it did rule out anything obvious. I am going to try and find someone with a bi directional scan tool or I may just try replacing the sensor. Thanks again
