AC Compressor change Pag oil ?
ok - finally getting to AC compressor change - wrestled off old compressor - was dry = no oil at all ,,, thus probably the problem !
anyway have read all on the forum
new compressor kit notes it has 6 oz of PAG46 in it and kit came with bottle of PAG 100
If system holds 9 oz - is this just a simple thing of putting back together and adding 3 oz to accumulator !?
the seller notes they have sold 37 of these kits with no complaints
Thanks
As long as you have a flushed system with a new accumulator, you can put 9 ounces in the compressor or split it up lime you described between the compressor and the accumulator. Either way will work. The factory built all of our cars with 9 ounces in the compressor.
Typically, a compressor without drainable oil from its crankcase is due to running with low refrigerant charge. Low charge does not provide sufficient refrigerant flow to return the oil in circulation to the compressor. Hopefully, if you had a leak, it was your old compressor or you fixed it.
The condenser tubes are too small to be flushed effectively. It should be replaced or you run the risk of junk contaminating your system and possibly damaging your new compressor.
