Does GM still manufacture a OEM switch for the 2000 C5 or are they selling the AC/Delco China knock off which I can buy for $80 on Amazon?
Bought a switch off Amazon which was bad right out of the box. Starter contacts were defective- vehicle would not crank. Put old back in and cranks fine but have problems with ABS and 02 heater circuit which is why I am replacing it. Good new was the ABS O2 circuit worked in the new switch.
Someone made a video on Youtube showing how to test and fix the defective starter contacts on the same switch. .
I noticed some discount Chevy online dealers are selling the switch for about $90 and they state the retail price is $174. This causes me to question if GM still makes the OEM switches or are they selling the same one I can buy on Amazon?

Amazon has been selling OEM packaged knockoffs for a while. There is a reason they are cheaper. C5Diag is right Rock Auto being a single named source has more to lose that the chinese hiding behind the big A.
The friend I was helping bought the Echlin Brand Part #: ECH KS6164 from NAPA as someone else reported they did in another post. Is is made in Taiwan and it worked without any problem.
Cost $121..
Has 3 year warranty.
My replacement switch was the AC Delco with the black housing. Before I knew that, it came from AutoZone.com in a GM Genuine Parts box. I'm not sure how easy a switch with the teal housing would be to find.
Maybe we shouldn’t assume that they are all defective? And get them tested before putting them in our cars? I’ve got two now, one from Amazon and the other one from RockAuto.
Yesterday when turning the ignition on, I got the service stability system thingy, could be the ignition switch already acting up or my EBCM. I’ll test the new one and then switch it. I’ll report back on my findings.
