Default When to replace shocks

So wondering if I need to replace shocks that are original. My 2002 Shocks are 20 years old with 60,000 miles. Thoughts?

I end to replace shocks for cars after 7-10 years, because they eventually give up the ghost even though they haven't done a lot of traveling. Each car I've done it in, regardless of how low the mileage, was noticeably improved.

So, after 20 years, yes, I believe they are done and should be replaced.

I believe the common suggestion is the C6 shocks (although now I can't remember off the top of my head if it's C6Z or not), but I am sure someone will chime in.

As I have the same concern as the OP (2000 Vert, 65k, with original shocks) may I ask what part number is used for the C6 ZO6 shocks?

Thanks,

Sadly the set appears to be about $367 everywhere. A seller on eBay claims that GM started enforcing MAP pricing as of November of last year. That being said, you're right about Summit - they currently have a Labor Day sale going on, bringing them down to $357.14 + tax

As far as performance mods go, no, they are not terribly expensive. But looking back at threads from 1-2 years ago, 4 shocks were going for ~$210-220!

My '02 has the "MagneRide electronic shock absorbers" on it. Way to mushy if I don't leave in the performance mode. Will the C6 shocks work as a replacement and do I still need to use the module to lie to the computer?

Default Rear shocks discontinued problem - what kit? C5 Hatchback 2004 85K

Hey C5 owners, I had my front shocks replaced in 2019. I go to AAA Auto and they said the sport/tour electronic shocks are Now disco'd by GM. Good thing as they were $1000 EACH!

They gave me part number 19431689 19431680 and said they are on ebay.
Is this the shock you all recommend or should I go with a part number (which I don't have) for for the C6 ZO6 shocks?
Any particular brands you recommend?

What KIT do I need since I had the electronic shocks. I'm glad AAA will put it all in as I don't work on my vet.

Here the link I was looking at. Sorry I'm clueless here but want to learn.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/28589706636...Bk9SR9yvwZmqZA

I also have a loose Right Rear Tie Rod, probably cause I gently hit a curb in a parking lot backing up.
Tie rod is $400 and $400 to install it. Is that Normal?

I've had my C5 14 years now and it's been great. Thanks in advance for your help!
