Default New Owner C5

Been reading around for common issues with the C5 seems like the biggest on is the EBCM. I'm currently having no issues. I have a 99 convertible with 57k miles. Is it inevitable to have problems with it? Are there any out there with high miles with no problems?

I am on my 3rd Corvette. I owned a '62 and '66 years ago. Both convertibles with hardtops. No issues and fun to drive. I recently bought a '98 C5 convertible ( 49K miles) but looked around and read hundreds of posts on this forum. Very helpful and educational on what to expect. Day 2 of ownership I got the "service column lock" message. Had the towed back to the dealer and they installed a LMC5 bypass. No more column lock problem but I get the "pull key wait 10 sec" message and sometimes the everything works but no start issue. Car starts after 3 minutes. I cleaned the ignition and key resisters and it seems a bit better. No leaks no water anywhere so BCM not wet. New battery, full service tune, radiator hoses, and Car is going to a Corvette specialist near me, they have an electronics specialist that will hopefully resolve all issues so my wife and I can be comfortable driving longer trips.
I really like the C5 for a lot of reasons and I'm happy to own it. I believe the issues are able to be resolved but may take time and a bit of money.
Good luck,
Don

I used to have similiar problem ( wait 10s, 2mph fuel cutoff ...), it was solved by tuning it out with HPtuner.

Thanks, that helps build confidence that I'll soon have a perfectly reliable C5.

Do the brown wire mod listed on page 2 of the instructions. That should take care of the "pull key wait 10 sec" problem

Smoken1,
Thanks, the brown wire mod is next. I called Compliance Parts to ask about that twice and emailed them thru their website, no response so I'll do it myself.
