Default 405 HP

What mods would be required to bring my LT1 engine up to the same HP and TQ as the Z06.

What mods would be required to bring my suspension up to the same level?

Is the transmission the same?

Are the brakes the same minus the cooling ducts and calipers?

Dyno? whats a dyno? Its just bought it, there are no mods, its an MN6 (i assume this means its a manual transmission 6 speed). I wanted a Z06 but the insurance was higher so i thought I would just get the basic vette and do the upgrades over time. I mean its a great car as it is.

An LT1 or an LS1? You do have a 2002 coupe, correct? How much are you willing to spend?

Congrats on your new purchase, welcome to the forum. Okay.. your motor isnt a LT1, its a LS1. LT1s were in the C4. Thats why I was a little confused. The brakes are identical, except they are red. You can either paint yours red (50 bucks or less) or you can buy Z06 claipers (around 400 I think). The brake pads are a little more aggressive on the Zo6, they will stop you a little better, but they will also dust more; meaning more cleaning. You would also have to upgrade your sway bars, since you have the standard suspension. The transmission in the Z06 has a deeper first gear, so unless you swap trannies, or get the internal tranny gears changed, a Z06 will beat you off the line. You could add 3:73 to equal out the gearing difference. To get 405 HP, you could do the following.
1. go get a 02 Z06 crate motor and swap it in (5700.00 or so for the motor)
2. put a Head and cam package on your car
3. add long tubes, intake, head & cam, and blow the z06 away
4. add a magnason supercharger.

The z06 also has a weight advantage, so you will have to make up for it with power. :D

Hope I answered your questions...

Look up quikag on the board. His C5 is as quick as a stock z06 with bolt ons and 4.10 gears. I am a a4 and play with the z06 but dont want to stiffen the suspension and lose some comfort!

3 thing to be as quick as a z06:
1. intake (vortex or varam)
2. Headers - TPIS
3. Gears - 4.10

For straight line that will put you in the ball park!

I'd get the Magnacharger (Finance it if you have to) from LPE or one of the Forum Tuners if you can't afford LPE's price, then slap on some BFG G-FORCE KD (245'S and 295'S) and you'll be waving bye-bye :seeya to the Z06, that is as long as he doesn't have the magna charger also.

I agree that the blower is the way to go for a newbie. Have a reliable shop bolt it on and forget about cams, headers, and all that complicated, technical stuff. ;)

Couldn't have said it better - you just need to fork up the $$$, plus the hood. Thats why I Mentioned LPE cause he's done so many and with the newer hood.

I'm 390 at the flywheel with the mods in my sig. You are starting out with 5 more horses than I did, and I believe that you have the Z intake manifold with the 2002. Add a set of 3.90s and that should make you very competitive with a stock Z06. For suspension, I'd recommend lowering it, adding Bilsteins and the Z06 sway bars...
