Driving at night from work and when I cut my light off both went down but the left one went back up again….ive had this happen a couple months ago when I was doing radiator work and I fixed it but unfortunately it looked like the problem came back. What could be the problem? Is there a permanent fix?
I believe their was a technical bulletin on this that involves adding a rubber washer. I don't have it handy. Perhaps someone else can post a copy of it.

It would be helpful to know what you did originally to "fix" the issue the first time. It helps us understand your thought process and the potential issue.
Many times it is related to the white bumpers being worn out or missing. Compare the two headlights to ensure all of the bumpers are still in place. The main culprit is usually the bumper that stops the arm that raises and lowers the headlight. The arm should ideally hit the center of the bumper so some adjusting may be needed. If the bumper has a significant dent from the arm, you can potentially flip the bumper over to utilize the undamaged side or trade it for one of the ones at the rear of the lid. Those are primarily there to stabilize the assembly while the lights are up.

start with inspecting the rubber stopper/bumpers. Flip them over of they are marred/indented. If that's not it it's likely the plastic gear in the housing itself. You can upgrade to brass or replace the entire pop up light motor assembly.

This happened to me last week. Replacing the insulator fixed it for me. If I continue to have problems then I will do what the service bulletin says to do.

Chiming in and saying just go ahead and do the brass headlight gear kit because you're *eventually* gonna have to do it anyway. Save yourself the grief.
(VetteNuts sells a great kit and the bumpers too) ..it's what I did when I had the same problem. Has not returned. I ordered a set of HIR halogen bulbs from Daniel Stern so that I was good to go. Great night output. Headlights sound a lot more stout when they go up/down now too. I just hate fixing the same problem more than once so I'd want someone to tell me this
