Default Accessory 12 volt source

Hi C5 gang, I wanted to rewire my 12 volt power port (the one in the storage compartment between the seats) to be off when the ignition is off. Where is the most convenient location to get a 12 volt accessory wire. I know about the set of wires in the floor by the BCM, but was looking for something under the HVAC controls or radio.

Thank you.

You could use the front 12V plugs power wire to trip a relay.

Ok, Bear with me I am not all that good at explaining things.

First Get one these add a fuse things from walmart or autozone.

Next pull fuses 1, 7 and 11. These are for the CLSL CIG (the one you want) the C/LTR ( if you want it switched) and where you are getting the switched power ASRYOFF.
Plug the add a fuse into 11 and add 2 short wires to the add a fuse to plug it into the non hot side of the Cig lighter(7) and the accessory cig lighter(1 ).

Done.
My car has been like this for years now and i have had no problems with it.
I found this on the internet years ago but could not find it again so here it is. Hope this helps.

Also I like this way because it doesn't involve cutting any wires.

That's why I did it, and I will never use my cigarette lighter so I did it also.

Pull fuse 1 and run a fuse tap from B of fuse 11 to A of where fuse 1 was and install fuse 1 in the new fuse tap?

It's not the most professional install IMO, but it should be easy to do, all contained in the fuse box. There's a high and low beam wiring kit like this I'm not crazy about either but people use it with success.

I have spent hours digging around under there and cannot find that pigtail in my 2004 Z06. Very frustrating.

Thanks your idea worked for me. I change both ports to I wish there was a way to include these in the 10 minute accessory delay but this fuse is instant off when you turn off the key. Still a good solution. If anyone knows how to keep the circuit running for the extended accessory mode I’d appreciate you sharing.

thanks ,
T
