Default Egr / air loop??

All,

I have scanned the threads and apologize if this is overlap. I live in Florida and am going to a TPS header without EGR on my 2000 c5 LS1.

I understand the procedure for physically removing the air pump and egr portions of the system, but my question is: can you avoid a CEL or SES light by leaving the pump portion of the system installed in the car, removing the actual connections to the engine, and simply feed the pump inlet (originally plugged into air intake) into the pump outlet (originally going behind the engine and into exhaust)?

The thought is that this would basically keep the electronics and system components that draw current thinking they are blowing air to the right place, but would allow the physical connections to be bypassed like I need for my setup.

I will eventually get this tuned, just had the thought while I was working on it.

Just so you are in the know, no C5 Corvette has an EGR system. Only and air pump system is installed. I don't know if you can trick the computer or not. I ripped out the whole entire system and had the DCTs turned off.

You can't trick the computer as you are saying. The system looks for the O2 sensors to go lean while the pump is on. If you are removing it you should get a tune anyway since you are adding headers.

If the PCM determines that the HO2S voltages for both banks did not respond as expected during the tests,DTC P0410 sets. If only one sensor responded, the PCM sets either a DTC P1415 or P1416 to indicate onwhich bank the AIR system is inoperative.
I think you need to disable the P0410 and these two alarms with HP Tuner or EFI Live to to avoid these alarms if you remove the AIR system
