I'm going to be installing a set of headers in the very near future and will most likely do the installation myself.
I've searched through the archives on header installtions, jackstands and jacking a C5, but I haven't found any information regarding jackstand placement and the need to span two ribs on the crosmembers as it applies to the saddle shaped head found on most jackstands.
It seems like you'd need a jackstand with a flat plate on top instead of the typical concave head.
How did those of you who did your own installtion deal with this, and how much clearance did you find it necessary to achieve under the car for the installation?
I used the craftsman saddle shaped jackstands and used just one of the ribs on the cross members. 16" clearance was plenty for me. But I've read many think this placement is not good. There have been recent posts concerning flat topped jackstands. They look good, expensive also. Do a search using the word jackstand or variations there of. I'm sure you will find these threads.
