Default 2002 Z06 Gas tank issues

I had an issue with my 2002 where the car was running badly. It would hold a steady RPM, but if you want to rev the car it would hesitate. I thought it was possibly bad gas, and pumped all the fuel in the tank. Added fresh gas and had the same issue. I filled the car completely up and the car ran the driver side tank empty, but the passenger side tank still had fuel in it. I disconnected all the lines and blew them out with compressed air in both directions, and they all seemed to flow fine. I put everything back together and put 5 gallons of fresh gas in and had the same issue. What I am noticing though is that if I pull the schrader valve off at the rail and energize the fuel pump and the tank is 1/4 of a tank or below that the fuel running out has a lot of bubbles in it which leads me to believe it is not picking up fuel correctly. Thus on throttle tip in, the car is starving for fuel.

My question(s) are:

Has anyone seen an issue where the line inside the tank has split and is picking up air?
Has anyone seen the pump/sock get turned somehow where it is not picking up fuel off the bottom of the tank?
Has anyone seen an issue where when the pump gets old it cavitates or pulls in air from somewhere else?
If the system is puling air will that impact the jet pump function and leave fuel in the passenger side tank.

My next step is to drop the driver side assembly, but before I did I just wanted to see if anyone had seen any similar issues.

Before you drop the drivers side pump, recommend the following checks first..as you ran the car and the drivers tank was empty and the pax tank still had fuel...
The PCM monitors the fuel flow transfer rate from the pax tank to the driver tank; if the fuel flow/transfer rate goes outside of spec, the PCM will post a DTC fault code, (possible faulty Jet Pump in pax tank) recommend you review your DTC fault codes and post them to this thread..(post up findings).
For your comment of; fuel running out has a lot of bubbles> recommend you put a fuel pressure gauge on the fuel rail and post up your pressures, specifically when you pin the throttle to see if there is a major dip in fuel pressure which would indicate a pump volume issue (possible faulty fuel pressure regulator/filter assy)...post up findings.

Cheers,
Goose

Pulled the pump assembly this morning and tested on my bench. Pump cavitates on the bench as its trying to pump fuel. So, going to replace the unit. Now onto finding a decent replacement.

Thanks you for the input.

You should check this part of the siphron pump and see if it is clogged .
The second photo show a clogged part and the third photo show the part cleaned

thank you for that I will definitely have a look at it while I have everything apart. The first order of business is trying to find a new pump right now

Unfortunately the fuel pump kit from Racetronix is not available with no ETA on when it will be available. After speaking to Racetronix, they are switching suppliers for the bucket on the assembly. They have no ETA on when the unit will be back in production. So, my only hope at this point is to find someone who has one on the shelf, use a replacement stock unit, etc...

So, anyone know of someone who has a Racetronix kit on the shelf?

I called Walboro/TI and found that they build the GRJ-420 on an as needed basis. They dropped the P in the part number. So, you can't order a GRJ-420P, only a GRJ-420. They were able to tell me where they shipped the last pump. I called that distributor (who specializes apparently in obsolete parts) and they had it on the shelf. I ordered it, and its shipping to me. I hope to see it in 3 days or so.

Please post your success. Had trouble finding the part or even part number at Walbro Pumps. I've got same problem finding pump.
Thanks,

I received my replacement parts today. The GRJ-420P Had the fuel bucket, fuel sock, strainer, etc. included. The GRJ-420 only includes the pump.

I suspect this is why Racetronix is no longer able to build the kit as all of the parts are no longer available. They indicated to me they were looking for a "new source" for those parts, and no ETA on when they would start building new kits.

At this point am going to salvage everything from my original assembly and just replace the pump.

I called to check on a new fuel sock those have been discontinued I have found one that is old stock on a dealer shelf and it is $120. I will probably end up reusing the old fuel sock since the car has low miles.

The attached photo is the new pump next to the old pump.
