Need new rear gears for my 2004…

What manufacturer is the go to for GM quality gear sets? My car is a low mileage m6 daily driver; no racing. Changing to 3.90’s

Does GM even make these anymore?

Motive is the only company that makes gears for our vettes, just order the cheapest you find cause you’ll receive motive gears regardless

Do they make them for Yukon?

Yes basically, if you order “yukon” or any other brand then they will still be motive and typically come in the motive box/packaging,

I contacted Motive and they advised that Yukon makes their own gears, and one other company I don’t recall, although additional providers do sell Motive gears as you pointed out.

They advised their gears are superior to those originally sold by GM, since Motive was, back in the early 2000s, competing as an aftermarket performance alternative. Their performance gears for street use are 8250 steel (or some number similar to that…), They use the FM Face Milling process with a 5 cut style.

GM never made 3.90s for the C5 as far as I know. I opted for Motiv 4.10 a couple years ago. Shot peened and polished by the shop that installed them. Be very selective on who you have do the gears or just play it safe and buy a whole case from a reputable vendor.
