Rear end leaking at top?
I had a used transmission installed 3 months ago with new axle seals.
1 month ago, the rear diff cover was leaking. Shop re installed, no issues.
yesterday, my diff is leaking (quite a bit dropped onto the concrete) again. However, it appears to be coming from the top of the diff and then leaking down the passenger side. It is not coming from the axle seals or the joint (although in photos it looks like it, you can see to the left of the Getrag tag it’s coming down above that). I can put my fingers in the top and they come back with a bunch of diff oil.
I sprayed water to clear out the diff fluid. When doing this, more and more diff fluid came pouring down from the top and onto the passenger side of the diff.
Any idea what might be causing this?
Thank you!
I agree with vent as well. It’s just that’s on the other side.
Or, if you want a neat toy you can buy one of the small endoscopes that hook up to your cell phone.
Also, Harbor Freight makes an inexpensive endoscope camera for around $50.
