My C5 is a 99 A4 with 3.73s, pulleys, Granatelli MAF and Blackwing. I want to buy some long tube headers and was wondering which brands you guys would recommend/ likes or dislikes. So far, all the ones I have seen advertised are 1 3/4 diameter, so aren't they all pretty much the same??
Thank!
I'm not an expert on the issue but I came close to buying some RK Sports from Andy at A&A Corvettes in Ventura for $895. I had him install some gears but didn't get the headers at the time.
First define a budget and or a long term goal for your application. Like are you going for a Heads and Cam setup later?
You have many options at hand for headers and some are under a 1000.00 and many are more than a 1000.00 but the higher ones are only better (really) for more advanced setups (like heads and cam setups). Meaning that you will not necessarily benefit (or get maximum power from them) from the more expensive setups due to the "engine" requirements - required to fully utilize them.
There really isnt a bad choice out there for the long tubes.. just a budget and application consideration that makes one set more applicable to your sitaution than others..
They may seem expensive, but the FLP system is complete all the way to the rear axle flange. Includes headers, cats, X-pipe, and also off-road pipes which easily replace the cats if you choose. 100% bolt on (no welding), coated inside and out, and one of the best performing long tube designs.
Definite performance increase, and IMO well worth it.
Headers are next on my list to.
I’m looking for a fully bolt on kit, no welding, with removable cats.
I’ve narrowed my selection down to 2 systems.
LGM G2 -- http://www.lgmotorsports.com/
FLP’s ----- http://www.flp2win.com/
I believe the G2’s will out perform the FLP’s but I’m not sure by how much.
The G2’s are also 304 stainless steel
Decisions, Decisions…
Lou now has everything available to go from the heads to the catback, with no welding. Removable cats with ORP, X-pipe, mounting tabs back by the collectors, optional - new heat shield, and his race collector. Awesome setup.
