Default 99 FRC DIC Issues

So the DIC in my 99 FRC has apparently crapped out. Haven't dug into yet but my research is indicating that the issue is common and there is no repair for a DIC failure. The message center still reads and is clear but the buttons on the side do nothing. Looks like the common fix is a replacement used IPC assembly with the mileage reprogrammed. My question is will any IPC from 99-04 work in my car? Dont know that I will ever want a HUD but if I get a HUD IPC will it work? Also have seen some with switches on the left side that my car does not have--problem? Thought about getting one with the Z06 logo as well. Will any of them plug and play or are there units that will not fit my car. 99 FRC LS1 6spd non hud

Any will work. The buttons on the left side are for the HUD.No issues installing either one in your car.

I have the same issue with my DIC, just found it yesterday and it ruined what should have been a nice drive. My Vette is a 2001 and it will only display the miles, or "hatch ajar" or whatever but none of the trip computer or other gauge options can be selected from the options on the six buttons to the right. I tried just restarting the car and the issue remained. Is there a good fix for this?

OP: I'm not sure what you mean by "IPC" above. Were you able to fix yours and make it work again?

Thanks

He is referring to the instrument panel. it will need to be replaced along with the DIC buttons on the right side of the dash
When the buttons stick they cause the panel to go bad and the chip needed to repair it is not avaliable

Okay, so what you are saying is the only fix is a new Instrument cluster. Then I need to figure out how to get the mileage transferred.

- Thanks

Or you can swap the old card in the cluster with old milage chip on it with the card in the "new" used cluster or move (undolder and resolder)the odometerchip from your original cluster to your "new" one

oelarse... I've seen a couple of threads about changing the "cards" for the mileage and that is sometime I'm willing to tackle. In searching for a new cluster will any cluster with HUD work? Do I need the buttons attached? Seems like a good idea if mine are damaged or something.

Thanks

Have not done this myself (but I have a complete spare cluster complete with buttons ready incase of cluster problems " , but I think any cluster with HUD will do . I would also go for a complete cluster with buttons and try changing the the "odometer card"
