Default Passenger door wiring issue

Hi C5 gang...
Coming home from work the other night, out of the blue I got a bunch of warnings come up on my DIC... service ECBM, reduced power. check tire pressure, etc. These appeared to be just warnings because the car had no drivability issues, I checked and cleared the codes and all was good. I have had an intermittent passenger door issue with the wiring that goes from the body to the door, but nothing else. While trying to diagnose the door issue, I has the same warnings appear on the DIC again. So I'm assuming that they are related and was looking for advise on where to start. I know that there are issues with the door wiring. The only thing I have tried was cleaning the ground beside the battery, which was not dirty and check the battery terminals, and they were tight.

Thanks!

This guy. The blue connector was okay so I left it, but I deleted the black one. You can bend the pins back into shape if you want. Both sides were acting up on my car.

So, you cut out the black one and spliced the wires together?

I did soldier and heat shrink. It's a tight fit, you only have maybe 3" of wiring coming out of the car, but it's doable.

I would like to mention that I am confident that if I ever had to remove the door from the car I should be able to snake the wiring out of the door through the accordion hole, but I have not verified that it will fit through. Those connectors were for speed on the assembly line, so they could for build the door off the car in advance.

You can work the rubber accordion into the door to have room to work.

Most forum members who have had problems with that connector simply use a small flat blade screwdriver to bend the sockets on the connector so they make better contact.

Just to clarify, fixing the door module wiring will correct the other issues I'm having?

Yes, because the bad contacts on that connector are causing a loss of serial highway data which will result in many trouble codes.

Yes !!...if you lose a power or ground on that wiring via a bad connection you may have those things you are seeing...all DIC warnings, windows don't work and a few others !!...this issue is more prevalent on the drivers door since that door is opened and closed more frequently !!

I experienced similar issues many years ago. About 2008. When I removed the tape around the loom between the passenger door and body of my car I found one of the wire covers had actually worn through exposing the wire underneath.

First I attempted to just wrap the entire loom with electrical tape but nothing changed. Then I wrapped a small piece of electrical tape around just the individual exposed bit of wire and the issues was resolved. Then I wrapped the entire loom with another layer of tape. Still resolved to this very day.
