Reverse solenoid malfunction?
I have a doubt about the solenoid in my car. Although mine is working properly, at least preventing the reverse from engaging when the car is roling, it happens that sometimes it is difficult to go into fifth.
It's not always, it can happen eventually. When it happens, there is no kind of grinding or weird sound, it just seems that the lever is not going anywhere because there is something that prevents you from continuing.
When the 5th. comes in, it may happen that it goes with medium effort or that it requires extra effort, but always is clearly noticeable when the 5th is engaged.
1999 vert, 29k miles, no abuse. MGW and before HURST, the same happens with both shifters.
Could the Solenoid be preventing from going into 5th. sometimes?
Thanks!!
I have no problem with reverse.Actually my question is if the solenoid could be the culprit of the problem going into fifth gear and if it is worth changing it.Change is easy, the hard part is getting under without a lift.
